This fall, Our Community Foundation celebrated five years of independent, local philanthropy serving Daviess County. What began as a small effort to pool community giving has grown into a foundation supporting dozens of grant recipients each year, from classroom teachers to nonprofit organizations across the county.
The anniversary celebration brought together grant recipients, donors, and community partners for an evening reflecting on the Foundation’s impact — including a look back at the very first Teaching Innovator Grant awarded five years ago, and the Foundation’s steady expansion into community impact and housing stability funding since.
“Five years in, this Foundation is exactly what our founders hoped it would become — a place where local generosity turns directly into local impact,” said a Foundation board member at the event.
The Foundation thanked its founding donors and looks ahead to continued growth in the years to come.
